From the very first phone consultation, we immediately knew Jillian was the perfect trainer for our German Shepherd puppy! She spent so much time truly listening to all of our wants/goals and discussed how the board and train program would best fit our needs, and even gave us helpful training tips to put into place immediately that helped with the puppy phase before we met!
Over the course of several months, we have watched our energetic puppy turn into an obedient dog that we can take out in public, returns when called off leash, plays well with our kids and other animals, and many other skills in such a short period of time… and she is not even a year old yet!

For the past 6 weeks I've been working with Jillian and the team at Gulf Coast K9 Dog Training to help my rescue pup, Bruce, with a pretty serious case of stranger danger. At drop-off Bruce displayed his fear and leash reactivity when first meeting Jillian, and I could not be happier to report that after 3 weeks of board and train, follow up training, and ongoing group classes, Bruce has gained so much more confidence. Not only can I comfortably handle Bruce on walks where he sees other people and dogs without fearing he will pull, growl, or show other signs of leash reactivity, you can tell Bruce is gaining much more confidence in our typical routine and even in new situations.

Just as important, every time Bruce and I have seen Jillian or another member of the GCK9 team, he's always been so happy to see them! I believe this is a testament to the GCK9 team taking the time to learn each dog's personality and never forcing a dog into a situation where the dog is scared. The entire GCK9 team truly cares about helping every dog and owner to become more confident and learn new skills for a happy and healthy life together. Both of our dogs were trained by Jillian for 2 & 3 weeks. She's incredibly knowledgeable and experienced in dog behavior. One of the dogs had spent two weeks with another training facility previously, but still had issues with resource-guarding, anxiety and aggressive posturing with other dogs and sometimes the cats. The difference between Jillian's training and theirs was night and day. While we initially came for daycare, Jillian recognized that dog's behaviors in group right away and placed him in the special small group for more behavioral and socialization training. She also was the first to notice our new puppy's gait was off, and it turned out that puppy has hip dysplasia. We were able to start her care immediately to preserve as much function as possible.
I would highly recommend her services for daycare and intensive training. It's well worth the cost to know that your pups are receiving excellent and expert care with someone who knows what she's doing. It's always stressful for me to leave my dogs with someone when I travel, but I know that our dogs LOVE it there and are having a great time.

I genuinely have no words to how amazing Jillian at Gulf Coast K9 is. She helped me with my 6 year old Shiba Inu, Henry in proper socialization, reactivity, and just being an all around gentleman. If you know Shibas, they’re no easy feat. But Jillian helped him in all ways she could and taught me the necessary steps to continue his gentlemanly behavior. Dog training is an ON GOING experience and when you learn from the best (like Jillian) you get the best! Jillian is a true master at dog training. She is very nice, and her air-conditioned training facility is plastered with awards and accolades, 1st place prizes and trophies. She was the only one in the state that was recommended for our situation, a crazy 3-year-old American Bulldog mix. She has made our lives so much better! He was dumped on us 2 years ago, he was just a teenage jerk with selective listening and protective and reactive behaviors. He was so rude towards his sisters and anything else that moved, including strangers. Now, he has a list of commands that he follows, and he respects us and our other dogs in the house. He has had an entire attitude adjustment and is worlds better with Jillian's education. Not only did she teach our boy to behave like a man, but she also gave us the critical tools to keep him accountable and keep his training a success. Our parents and siblings have seen the transformation and now they all want to have their dogs properly trained! This experience has been nothing short of amazing, this is worth every penny and you will not regret having a trained dog at your side. GCK9 is an excellent facility led by a phenomenal trainer. Jillian is able to handle dogs that most trainers cannot or will not train, in a way that is ethical and fair to the dog.

I came across GCK9 as a detection K9 hander looking to get into the sport of PSA with my GSD. She has been instrumental in helping me evolve as a trainer and turned his functional obedience into something flashy & enthusiastic by helping me re-shape my marker system and handling. She fosters an environment of trainers that can work together, share ideas, troubleshoot and cheer each-other on, this is not always easy to find in the world of working/sport dogs and something to be proud of.
